How is Air Wick Odour Detect different from others automatic sprays?

It is the first and only automatic spray on the market that is able to automatically detect odours and overcome them by releasing extra fragrance bursts without your intervention.

Does Air Wick Odour Detect also release fragrance continuously?

Yes, Air Wick Odour Detect releases continuous fragrance. On top of that, it will release extra bursts of fragrance only when it detects odours.

How does Air Wick Odour Detect work exactly?

It features an odour sensor that analyses the chemicals in the air. When it detects an odour it will release two extra bursts of fragrance to help overcome the odour.

What happens when Air Wick Odour Detect detects a new odour?

The device will spray 2 times and the LED light will flash green in quick succession. After 2 minutes, the device will spray 2 times again. If no other odours are detected, it will then revert back to the timed fragrancing setting you have chosen.

Air Wick Odour Detect sounds very complicated to use – is that correct?

Not at all – it is as easy to use as any other automatic spray air freshener found in the market. You simply need to insert the aerosol refill and the battery operated device will start releasing bursts of fresh fragrance. Be careful to always handle the device with the spray jet directed away from your face.

Can I move Air Wick Odour Detect to another room if I want to? Would I have to turn it off every time?

No, you don’t need to turn off the device. If you move the device to another room, it will automatically adjust to the new room. It may however take a few minutes to do this.

If the new room “smells” more than the previous room, the device may release a boost of fragrance. After this, it will automatically adjust to the new room.

Be careful to always handle the device with the spray jet directed away from your face.

After you turn Air Wick Odour Detect on, how long will take before it will respond to odours?

If you choose to turn the device OFF and ON again, it would take a few minutes before the device can respond to odours again.

Does Air Wick Odour Detect also have a motion sensor too?

No – its odour sensor technology is more advanced than motion sensor technology and therefore replaces the need for motion detection on this device.

Can I adjust the fragrance level on Air Wick Odour Detect?

Air Wick Odour Detect Max: has 3 fragrance intensity settings – Low, Medium and High.

Air Wick Odour Detect Compact: has 3 fragrance intensity settings – Low, Medium and High, as well as an odour sensor only that only releases fragrances when it detects odours.

I am going on vacation. How do I turn Air Wick Odour Detect off?

To shut the device off completely, you will need to remove the batteries. Be careful to always handle the device with the spray jet directed away from your face. As the device contains moving parts, is an aerosol and needs to be placed in a well ventilated room, it should be turned off if you will be away from home for more than 1 week.

How long will the refills in Air Wick Odour Detect last?

It will depend on how many odours the device has been detecting and the fragrance setting you are using to continuously fragrance the room.

• Air Wick Auto Detect Max on a minimum setting and in a room requiring only one extra boost a day will last up to 50 days. At the other end of the scale - on maximum setting and in a room requiring 6 extra sprays a day it may last 16 -20 days.
• Air Wick Odour Detect Compact will last between 14-30 days (or as long as a year if on odour sensor setting only)

I have some old Air Wick refills will they fit Air Wick Odour Detect?

• For Air Wick Odour Detect Max: Yes, as long as they have the Air Wick stripes on the white spray nozzle
• For Air Wick Odour Detect Compact: Yes.

Can I use other branded refills in Air Wick Odour Detect?

No – all Air Wick Odour Detect products are designed only to take AirWick refills. Most other branded refills will not fit or may damage the Air Wick Odour Detect device.

How sensitive is Air Wick Odour Detect? How quick does it detect and react to odours?

For strong odours, the device will often react in less than 2 minutes, but it may longer for weaker odours.

How large an area can the Odour detection device effectively work in? If the room is large might I need more than one?

The product will operate efficiently in the average size UK room – kitchen, lounge, bedroom or bathroom.

For Air Wick Odour Detect Max: it is not recommended that more than one device is placed in a room.

For Air Wick Odour Detect Compact: in a very large room – if you feel odours may come from different areas you may wish to consider placing two devices well apart.

Is Air Wick Odour Detect affected by humidity for eg. whilst running a bath ?

The device can detect rapid changes in humidity, so running hot water in a bathroom may trigger an extra boost of fragrance.

Should the product be kept away from air conditioners/vents? Will these items reduce its ability to detect odours?

Yes, we would advise the device to be kept away from air conditioning systems and vents because direct air flow onto the sensor from air conditioner systems will affect the temperature of the sensor and reduce its sensitivity to odours.

How will I know when the refill can is empty?

The LED will flash red when the refill is nearing empty. When the refill is fully empty, you will notice fragrance no longer being delivered when the device tries to spray.

How do I know when the batteries have run out?

Air Wick Odour Detect will stop spraying at its timed intervals. However, the LED may still continue to flash.

What do the different LED lights states mean?

Green – flashing every 25 seconds: device operational

Green – Flashing every 6 seconds: new odour detected and in “fragrance boost” mode

Red – Flashing every 6 seconds: refill nearing empty

What is the difference between Air Wick Odour Detect Max (the larger device) and Air Wick Odour Detect (the smaller device)? Does the larger device last longer? Does the larger device have more fragrance?

Both devices automatically deliver regular and constant bursts of fragrance throughout the day, so you get the same level of fragrance from the beginning of the refill to the end. Both devices also have the same odour sensor within them.

Air Wick Odour Detect Compact (the smaller device) has an additional setting which allows you to choose odour “sensor only”. On this setting, the regular timed bursts of fragrance are disabled and it will only release a boost of fragrance if an odour is detected. Also, the compact is better suited to smaller rooms.
