Candle decorations are a simple way to make your home feel more polished and inviting. After all, candles aren't just for night time or special dinners – you can use them at any time of day in any room for a nice glow and special scent. Decorating with accessories like candles[i], bowls, vases and books is one of those skills that may take a little practice in order to get the right effect. But that's the nice thing about small décor, you can move it around to wherever you think it will fit best!
Play with Height
When it comes to candle decorations and accessories you don't have to stick with lining them up next to each other. Stack books to make stands for your accessories and objects, and see if you can group tall and short items in ways that will show them all off while adding visual interest. Make sure you keep candles away from anything that burns, but see if an upside-down decorative bowl or if a candle pillar could serve to give candles a boost.
Group by Color
The great thing about candles is they come in every color you can think of. If one of your rooms has an "inspiration piece" like a piece of fabric or art then find candles that match these colors. Candle decorations that coordinate with or match your existing décor will add a little more visual impact than a mismatched group.
Add Unexpected Touches
Try decorating with accessories – fashion accessories! If that grouping of accessories looks a little lackluster on its tray then add some sparkly jewelry or layer in a silk scarf. A textured belt rolled up can add more visual interest to a bowl or plate. Drape a simple pendant over the corner of a special book or hang a pair of big earrings on the side of a small bowl or candle holder (only when it isn't lit). Shop your closets and drawers for extra decorative details!
Scents add another dimension to candle decorations. Use scented candles to evoke certain memories or feelings in your rooms – perhaps fresh citrus or fruity scents for the living room and guest bath and more relaxed linen or floral scents for the master bedroom. No matter what your preference, scent can add another dimension to your decorating.
[i] Make sure that you only burn candles within sight, while you're enjoying whatever space they're in. Keep candles away from children, keep the wax pool free of debris, and do not allow the flame to touch glass. We also recommend that you stop burning Air Wick candles when ½ an inch of solid wax remains, to avoid breakage.
