Wax Melt Burner FAQs

1. How to use my Wax Melts?

Our rich, electric scented wax warmers are ideal for kitchens, bedrooms and any other living spaces with up to 60 hours of long-lasting aroma on minimum setting (per three wax bar refills). Here’s how to create a warm and cosy ambience and a gorgeous fragrance without even so much as a flicker of a flame:

  1. Plug your ceramic bowl into the wall
  2. Switch the button to the “on” position
  3. Break off one wax bar and place it in the centre of the bowl, making sure the bowl is clean and empty
  4. Get ready for the ambience-inducing aroma of Air Wick® Wax Melts!

Please note: It is not recommended to turn on the warmer without a wax bar in the bowl.

2. What are Air Wick® Wax Melts and how do they work?

Wax melts are like a wax candle without the wick. Instead, they’re melted using an electric warmer with a small bulb, and slowly diffuse to fill the air with a wonderfully scented aroma throughout your home. With candles the whole of the wax melts away, but with wax melts only the scent dissipates. This means that the scent will go away, but the wax will remain, so you simply change the used wax melt and replace it with a new one.

3. What is in the Wax Melt Starter Kit?

Our Air Wick® Wax Melt Starter Kit gives you all you need to enjoy great fragrance without the flame. The product includes a porcelain electric warmer, a ceramic base with a metal heating plate and three wax bar refills of your chosen fragrance with a detachable power cable of 1.6 meters long.

4. How hot is the wax, heating stand and outside bowl?

The liquid wax temperature is between 60°C and 90°C in different places: the liquid wax on the edge will be closer to 60°C, whereas the centre of the bowl may be up to 90°C. It is recommended to keep your fingers clear of the liquid wax at all times.

The working temperature of the red metal plate on top of the ceramic base is approximately 120°C. It is not safe to touch this, and the red warning symbol on the plate is there as a reminder not to.

The outside part of the removable bowl will be less than 65°C (assuming your room temperature is 25°C), and is therefore safe to have around the house.

5. How many wax bars can I put into the bowl at once?

You should not use more than one wax melt at a time. When there is no longer any fragrance being released, switch off the bowl and allow the wax to cool prior to moving and replacing with a new one.

6. Can I use different fragrances refills simultaneously?

As mentioned above, do not use more than one wax bar at a time. You do not need to mix the bars for interesting scents because Life Scents is the first constantly changing fragrance, delivering a more true-to-life experience. There are currently various Air Wick® Life Scents fragrances available.

7. Can I get the kit in another colour?

Black is the only available colour for the ceramic bowl and base, and the black power cable matches the kit.

8. How do you clean your wax melter?

You should clean your wax melter every time a wax melt runs out by following these steps:

  1. Switch off and make sure the wax has cooled down
  2. Press the wax out of the warmer (you can use blunt wood or a rubber tool to press it out)
  3. Get a warm soapy sponge to clean the bowl inside and out
  4. Dry with a clean cloth.

9. How do you change wax melts?

When there is no longer any fragrance being released, switch your wax melter off and allow the wax to cool before you press it out of the warmer. To get the wax melt out of the burner, use a wood or rubber tool to get it out before cleaning with a warm soapy sponge inside and out and putting the new bar in. If you’re wanting to switch fragrances, we would always recommend letting the other fully run out.

10. How long does a wax melt last?

The fragrance of one single wax bar will last 20 hours. In terms of shelf life, you can keep the product for 2 years.

11. How often do you change wax melts?

Though one wax melt will last 20 hours, you will know how often to change your wax melt based on the fact there will no longer be any fragrance coming from it.

12. Can I add essential oils or any other fragrance to the Wax Melt?

Do not add essential oils or any other kind of fragrance to the bowl. This is dangerous and could result in a hazardous product – and foreign materials should never be added into the bowl.

13. What do you do with old Wax Melt devices?

You can recycle the electronic device according to local regulations.

14. What do you do if hot wax goes on skin?

If you get hot wax on your skin, wash with plenty of soap and water straight away. If skin irritation or a rash occurs, make sure you get medical advice/attention straight away.

15. What to do if wax is swallowed?

If wax from your melter is swallowed, immediately call a doctor and explain the situation.

16. Can I touch the wax?

It is not recommended to touch the wax directly with your bare hands. You should use rubber gloves when necessary.

17. Does the wax contain lead or heavy metals?

No, this wax does not contain any lead or heavy metals.

18. Can I turn on the warmer without any wax bar in the bowl?

The Wax Melt Kit is designed to work with a wax bar in the bowl – it is not recommended to use it without.
